FRIENDS AGM 2017
Our 25th. Annual General Meeting was held on Thursday July 13th. 2017 in the Education Centre at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. We were joined by over 60 “Friends”, members and guests including Abigail Daughters, The Director of Operations for Specialities, representing the Trust Board.
The Speaker this year was Head Orthoptist Julie Cartledge, who gave an illustrated and interesting talk on “Orthoptics through the ages, including driving and vision”.
Once again the Catering Department provided us with a delicious buffet, which was enjoyed by all.
Our “25th. Anniversary” silver themed raffle was won by one of our new Life Members.
2016 Friends AGM:
Our 2016 A.G.M was held in the Education Centre on Thursday July 14th. 62 members, guests and friends attended. Mr Tony Spotswood (Chief Executive Officer), Mrs Jane Stichbury (Trust Board Chairman) and Mr Bob Gee (Trust Governor) were amongst the attendees. They all spoke briefly, giving us words of thanks and encouragement, which are always much appreciated.
A delicious buffet, provided by the hospital Catering Dept was enjoyed by all. This was followed by 2 interesting talks. Mrs Non Matthews (Consultant) outlined "Future developments in Ophthalmology" and Mr Ben Parkin described his experiences in South Sudan.
An enjoyable evening was had by all.
2015 AGM Report:-
Our 2015 A.G.M. was held in the Education Centre at R.B.H. on Thursday July 16th. A good number of people attended, including our President, Members of the N.H.S. Trust, Committee and Friends of the Eye Unit members.
They were treated to a delicious buffet, provided by the hospital catering team.
This was followed by an interesting and informative presentation given by one of our consultants Mr. Owen Anderson. He spoke about "Retinal regeneration from stem cells to Bionic eyes." This was a fascinating and thought provoking talk explaining current developments and with a view to the future. A question and answer session followed.
The meeting ended promptly and all agreed that it had been an enjoyable and worthwhile event.
